Albert E. Minskey, Jr.
Liverpool, PA
Albert E. Minskey, Jr., 81, of Liverpool, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at his home with his family by his side comforting him.
Albert was born on December 5, 1941, in Harrisburg, a son of the late Albert E. Minskey and Vivienne (Conley) Galgana. On June 10, 1961, he married the love of his life, Sandra G. (Fox) Minskey. For more than 62 years, they created special memories, shared a beautiful marriage, and most of all, loved one another.
Albert (Al) was a 1960 graduate of William Penn High School in Harrisburg. In February 1960, he proudly enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard. During his career there, he made many lifelong friends. Albert E. Minskey, Jr., Sergeant First Class (retired), honorably retired in 1994 as a Personnel Staff NCO after serving 35 years in the Pennsylvania National Guard.
After he retired, Al continued working part time beginning as a sales clerk at The Golf Shoppe. After that, he worked as a service technician assistant for Commonwealth Office Systems and then as a sales clerk at Builders Square. His last employment started in 1998 at Bumble Bee Hollow Golf Complex East where he served in maintenance for several years.
When he and Sandy moved to Liverpool over 50 years ago, Al was asked to serve as a Cub Scout Leader, and he was honored to volunteer in that capacity. Al and Sandy were former members of the Liverpool American Legion Post #364.
Al loved being outdoors and enjoyed gardening and doing yard work. Golf was his favorite sport’s hobby. From a young man who began playing golf with his dad to an avid adult golfer, Al developed a true passion and love for the sport, and he spent many days enjoying time on the golf course. A special hobby of his was collecting golf balls and thousands of them are neatly arranged on racks in the garage and stored in containers. Other things Al enjoyed were going to the casino, playing pinochle on Saturday nights with his family, listening to 50’s and 60’s music, and especially playing with his granddogs. In his earlier years, he and Sandy were great dancers and it was quite impressive to watch them ‘jitterbug’! They enjoyed dancing at the Liverpool American Legion and any place a dance floor was available.
Albert is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; children, Debb Minskey of Norristown, PA, Jeff Minskey and his husband Jimmy Osborne of Spring, TX, and Tina Minskey of Liverpool; grandson, Seth Minskey of Liverpool; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; three cousins, numerous nieces and nephews; and grandpuppy, Victoria.
He is preceded in passing by his parents; sister, Cathy Smario; sister-in-law, Dianne Engle; brother-in-law, Rick Engle; and niece, Lisa Buffington.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12:00 noon at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 606 N. Front Street, Liverpool, PA 17045, with Pastor Ronnie Riggins officiating.
