Arlene Evelyn (Moyer) Foreman, 90, of Millerstown, entered eternal rest on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Brookline Manor in Mifflintown.
Arlene was born on March 28, 1933, in Monroe Township, Juniata County, a daughter of the late Roy and Margaret (Kratzer) Moyer. On August 31, 1980, she married Russell Elwood Foreman who preceded her in death.
Arlene was a 1950 of Greenwood Joint High School. After high school, she attended and graduated from Bloomsburg University. She earned her master’s degree in education.
On January 27, 1995, she joined Bindnagle Lutheran Church in Palmyra where she taught summer Bible School and visited the shut-ins. Arlene volunteered at Hershey Medical Center. She also spent many years volunteering at Bethesda Mission in Harrisburg where she served on their Board as their secretary. Along with her secretary position, she volunteered to help with bingo, shopping for bingo prizes and Christmas gifts, and making cookies.
Arlene enjoyed and was dedicated to reading her Bible, watching tv especially her favorite shows, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, doing outside yardwork including planting flowers, and coloring in adult coloring books.
She was employed and retired from Central Dauphin School District where she was an elementary school for over 33 years. Arlene took one year off during her tenure at Central Dauphin to travel to Germany where she taught at a DOD School and enjoyed touring Europe.
Arlene is survived by two brothers, Harold Moyer of Millerstown and Donald Moyer and his wife Donna (Mosebach) of Mifflintown; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She is preceded in passing by her husband; parents; and sister, Norma Orella (Moyer) Russell.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA 17853, with Pastor Brittin Stimeling officiating.
Interment will immediately follow in Richfield Union Cemetery.
