Erma Jane Kerstetter, 97, entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Nottingham Village in Northumberland.

Erma was born on February 11, 1926, in Oriental, Juniata County, a daughter of the late Robert and Barbara (Hupp) Dietz.  On November 20, 1948, she married Morris Franklin “Junior” Kerstetter, Jr., who preceded her in passing in August 2005.

Erma attended Laurel Hill Grammar School in Mt. Pleasant Mills.  She had been employed for several years in the laundry department at the Zendt Nursing Home in Richfield.

She was a member and past treasurer of Dressler’s Ridge United Methodist Church, a member of the Richfield Senior Center, and a volunteer at Care n’ Share in Seven Stars.

Erma enjoyed and was known for her quilting, cooking, and pie baking, especially her famous mincemeat pies.  She also enjoyed playing cards.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane E. Chubb and her husband Harold of Liverpool; son and daughter-in-law, Wendy Kerstetter of Richfield; grandchildren, Shelley Neimond and her husband Jim Bob, Amos Kerstetter and his wife Bobbi; and Austin Kerstetter and his wife Christina; grandchildren, Elizabeth Brubaker and her husband Michael, James Neimond, Tyler Kerstetter, Chase Kerstetter, Coy Kerstetter, and Isabella Kerstetter; great-great-grandson, Brooks Brubaker; brother, James Dietz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Erma is preceded in passing by her parents; husband, “Junior”; and siblings, Mary Alice Watts, Katie Kolva, Daniel Dietz, Flossie Heintzelman, Mollie Hepner, Paul “Dutch” Dietz, Melda Swartz, Betty Bingaman, and three brothers in infancy, Richard, William, and Robert.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA 17853, with Mr. Jim Bob Neimond officiating.

Interment will immediately follow in Dressler’s Ridge Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions in loving memory of Erma be forwarded to Dressler’s Ridge Church, 142 Kerstetter Lane, Millerstown, PA 17062.
