Hilda N. (Mitterling) Wolf, 98, of Selinsgrove, entered eternal rest on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at The Manor at Penn Lutheran.

Hilda was born on May 15, 1925, in Chapman Township, Snyder County, a daughter of the late Milton and Verna (Swartz) Shafer.  Early in life, she married L. Elwood Mitterling who preceded her in passing on September 22, 1998.  On September 6, 2002, Hilda married Glen E. Wolf, who preceded her in passing on January 20, 2015.

Hilda was a long-time member of Witmer’s United Methodist Church.  She dedicated her life to raising her children and being a homemaker.  Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, gardening where she was especially proud of her violets and amaryllis, cooking, baking, making her famous sauerkraut, and babysitting her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth Mitterling (Joyce), Vernon Mitterling (Patricia), Shelby Klingler (Robert), and Dale Mitterling (Carol); grandchildren, Amber Mitterling, Bethany Mitterling, Renee Orris, Amy Snyder, Heidi Cooper, Dustin Mitterling, Duane Klingler, Teresa Klingler, Troy Klingler, Kristen Reichenbach, Brian Mitterling, and Trent Mitterling; step-grandchildren, Chris Hodge, Kerry Hodge, and Brandon Hodge; 21 great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Alice Bell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hilda is preceded in passing by her parents; husbands, L. Elwood Mitterling and Glen Wolf; sisters, Lenore Shipman, Eloise Gehman, Carol Wagner, and Gloria Shafer when she was a toddler; brother, Harold Shafer; and nephews, Anthony Shaffer and Michael Shaffer.

Services will be private.
