James (Pap) Plummer passed away early Monday morning on March 17, 2025, with his wife by his side.
He was born on April 20, 1944, at the Altoona Hospital, PA, a son of the late David and Mary (Paige) Plummer. On April 8, 1962, he married the former Karen Kline. Together, their family grew with four sons, Mark (Rhonda) Plummer of Summerville, SC, David Plummer of El Paso, TX, Jamie (Melissa) Plummer of Beavertown, PA, and Tim (Tammy) Plummer of Fort Mill, SC. Pap’s pride and joy were his grandchildren, Zachary (Anna) Plummer of Fort Mill, SC, Kyle (Devon) Plummer of Mechanicsburg, PA, Corinne (Jimmy) Stewart of Madison, MS, and Kaitlyn Plummer of Hershey, PA; and his there great-granddaughters, Lily Mae of Madison, MS and Addelyn and Sophie Plummer of Fort Mill, SC.
He was a graduate of West Snyder High School, Beaver Springs, where he excelled in baseball which led him to coaching the local teeners.
All his life, he was a hard worker, working more than one job at a time. His professional career started at The Standard Steel for 10 years, followed by Kerr McGee for 25 years until their closure, and finishing his career with Koppers, Inc. for 15 years.
Pap’s most memorable memories were his yearly fishing trips with his family and friends and hunting adventures in Canada, as well as his golfing excursions to the Carolina’s.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, children and grandchildren, he leaves behind a brother, Richard (Mick) (Faye) Plummer of Beaver Springs; sister, Nancy (Mike) Sipe of New Lancaster Valley; sisters-in-law, Patty (Gene) Buonviri of San Francisco, CA and Karen Kline of Lewistown; and nieces and nephews whom he considered his children.
Pap experienced great losses throughout his life from his three brothers, Edward (Joe), Eugene (Butch), and David (Dink) Plummer; sister, Dorothy (Plummer) Trego; sister-in-law, Blanche Plummer; nephew, Jerry Plummer; brother-in-law, Ted Kline, Jr.; father-in-law, Ted Kline; mother-in-law, Elaine Kline; and his parents.
No services will be conducted at this time; however, a gathering of friends and family will celebrate his life at a later date.
