Jon L. Bergenstock, 68, of Milton, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville after suffering a heart attack. Born April 15, 1956, in Bloomsburg, he’s the eldest son of Larry W. Bergenstock and Nancy J. (Unger) Bergenstock, who reside in Montandon. On August 30, 2003, Jon married the former Faith A. Varner and together they celebrated over twenty-one years of marriage. She was by his side as he was ushered into the presence of Jesus.

Jon was a 1975 graduate of Milton Area High School. In April of 1976, he turned 20 years old while on his way to Fort Knox, KY to join the U.S. Army Reserves. He served his country honorably for fifteen years. Jon was employed by C.A. Reed in Williamsport from 1976 until its closing in 1993. He then pursued truck driving without any prior experience and found a happy place “driving the big truck.” He drove for multiple companies throughout the years and was employed by Weis Markets at the time of his death. It was well known that nobody kept a truck as clean as Jon Bergenstock.

Growing up, Jon enjoyed restoring classic cars alongside his dad and brothers and always held a great working knowledge of automobiles thereafter that benefited him in caring for the family vehicles. A true perfectionist, Jon maintained a meticulous yard and landscaping and took great pride in relaxing during a family picnic with a grand view of his hard work. Jon had an impressive ability to remember names and historical facts. He was also well known for nicknaming people and was often permitted to get away with it. Jon was passionate about physical fitness. Prior to his heart attack, he would jog 1.5 miles weekly and he was up to forty pushups at a time to show-up his great nephews.

Raised in a musical family, Jon began playing the bass guitar at age fifteen and became a skilled musician with an incredible talent. He played in the gospel band, Relevant, along with his mom; his dad’s country band, The Easy Lovers; and another country band, Harold Daniels and the Country Classics. Jon had been invited to join the band Vanilla Fudge in the 1970's but he turned down the opportunity. He struggled with that decision for many years wondering where his life might’ve gone until he read a book by a band member from Vanilla Fudge about life as a rock star. After finishing the book, he declared, "I didn't miss anything." Jon finally realized God had protected him from what could have been a life void of eternal values.

Jon was a dedicated member of Higher Ground Assembly of God in Mt. Pleasant Mills, where he served on the church worship team along with his wife until the time of his passing. Most importantly, Jon knew Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of his life and his family looks forward with great anticipation to seeing him again in heavenly reunion.

In addition to his loving and devoted wife, Faith, Jon is survived by his parents; a step-son, Justin M. (Aprie) Brennan; a son, Adam J. Bergenstock; a daughter, Kendra J. (Lane) Ferguson; a step-daughter, Savannah D. (John) Cassel; three granddaughters, Bailey, Collins and Emmeline; a sister, Julie A. Shutt; two brothers, Jerry L. (Pamela) Bergenstock and Jack W. Bergenstock, and several nieces and nephews.

Jon was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Thomas E. Shutt.
