Noma Mae Aucker

Noma (Nomie) (Reichenbach) Aucker, 98, of Freeburg, entered eternal rest on March 8, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
She was born February 7, 1926, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Palmer and Elsie (Grissinger) Reichenbach. On February 15, 1947, she married James (Jim) Aucker, who preceded her in passing on October 22, 1995.
Nomie grew up in the 5th Ward in Sunbury with her 5 sisters and cousins. She was a 1945 graduate of Sunbury High School. During her working years, she was employed by Westinghouse, Wearever Shirt Factory, Wal-Mart, and at the same time, waitressed at the Empire Hotel. Her longest job since 1956 was as an Avon Representative.
Nomie was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Freeburg where she sang in the choir. She was a lifetime member of the Freeburg Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, a lifetime member of the Selinsgrove VFW Auxiliary, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Nomie’s interests included playing cards, bowling, bingo, shopping, and spending time with her family. She especially loved her cat, Ginger. She remained physically active during her later years, participating in regular water aerobics at the Sunbury YMCA.
Nomie is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Jayme and William Huleatt of Vienna, VA, Jan Aucker of Washington, DC, and Julie and Kenneth Zettlemoyer, II of Selinsgrove; two grandchildren, Ryan Huleatt (Nadya) of Falls Church, VA and Lauren Huleatt (Lachlan) of Hong Kong; great-granddaughter, Sophie; and three generations of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband; son, Dennis James; and five sisters, Grace Herring, Rachel Vonada, Doris Markowski, June Young, and Mary Deitman.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. followed by the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 100 N. S Street, Freeburg, PA 17827.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in loving memory of Nomie may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, c/o Lisa Neff, PO Box 186, Freeburg, PA 17827 or the Freeburg Fire Company.
