Raymond O. Long, 81, of Liverpool, entered eternal rest on Friday, March 14, 2024, at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg.
Raymond was born on April 28, 1942, in Penns Creek, Snyder County, a son of the late George Long and Ora (Peffer) Hopkins. On September 1, 1962, Raymond married his loving bride, Mrs. Sandra Long, who proceeded him in passing on September 24, 2008. They shared over 46 loving years of marriage.
Raymond was a lead dock worker at Roadway Express from where he retired after over 30 years of faithful service. In recent years, Raymond enjoyed getting his Roadway Express guys together for breakfast at the Rise n’ Shine Restaurant in Mt. Pleasant Mills.
He was a faithful member of the Teamsters Union and the NRA.
In earlier years, Raymond enjoyed hunting with his son and grandson. Other interests and hobbies of Raymond’s included spotting deer, watching baseball, softball, and football, especially the New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Jets, and the Philadelphia Eagles. He also enjoyed playing baseball and softball. Raymond’s wife, Sandra, always supported Raymond by attending his ballgames everywhere he went to play. Raymond’s proudest and greatest enjoyment was coaching baseball and softball.
Special moments in Raymond’s life were shared with his fiancé, Connie, enjoying time sitting on the back porch in the evenings and watching the wildlife that would pass them by.
Raymond is survived by his son, Troy Long; his daughter, Tuesday Moure and her husband Shane; grandchildren, Brandi Orwan, Nathan Orwan, Elise Long, Hannah Long; great-grandson, Lincoln; finance’, Connie Snyder; brother-in-law, Marlin Sheaffer, Jr. and his wife Sallie; and sister-in-law, Brenda Fessler and her husband Blaine.
Raymond is preceded in passing by his wife, Sandra, and his parents, George and Ora.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 606 N. Front Street, Liverpool, PA 17045, with Rev. Dr. Robert Basom officiating.
Interment will immediately follow in St. John Barner’s Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in loving memory of Raymond may be made to the Liverpool United Methodist Church, 109 S. Market Street, Liverpool, PA 17045.
