Robert L. “Bob” Sweigart, 75, of Richfield entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at his home.
Bob was born on September 26, 1949, in Liverpool Township, Perry County, PA, a son of the late Harvey and Mary (Hoffman) Sweigart. Early in life, he married the late Carol (Seaman) Sweigart, who preceded him in passing on May 21, 2010.
In February of 1969, Bob enlisted in the United States Army. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medals. He later retired after 24 years of service from Excel Homes in Liverpool where he was employed as a leadman.
Bob was a life member of the Liverpool American Legion and the former Purple Heart Association in Lewisburg. He was also a member of the Evangelical Methodist Church in Richfield.
His favorite enjoyments were spending time with his grandchildren and his late dog, Casey, hunting, and fishing.
Bob is survived by his four children, Tabatha A. (Dwayne “Weiner”) Swartz of Richfield, Robert E. “Goobie” (Billi) Sweigart of Millerstown, Weena M. Goodling of Richfield, and Adam E. Sweigart of Mifflintown; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth (Charles) Miller and Shirl (David) Goodling all of Millerstown; half-brothers, Dale Sweigart and Mark Sweigart both of Liverpool and Greg Sweigart of Duncannon; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bob is preceded in passing by his grandson, Jeffrey Smith; sons-in-law, R. Scott Smith and Clifford Goodling; siblings, Charles Sweigart, Geraldine “Tiny” Matukaitis, Beatrice Sweigart, Romaine Klinger, George Sweigart, Harvey Sweigart, Frank Sweigart, Harold Sweigart, and Emma Bordner; and his dog, Casey.
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA 17853.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions in loving memory of Bob be made to the Purple Heart Foundation, PO Box 49, Annadale, VA 2203.
