Robert F. Troup, 91, of Richfield, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the Richfield Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Robert (Bob) was born on Monday, February 29, 1932, at his family homestead in Perry Township, Snyder County.  On Saturday, May 23, 1953, he married his bride of over 70 years, Sarah (Kerstetter) Troup.

Bob was a 1949 graduate of Freeburg High School.  He was drafted into the United States Army where he served in Korea from 1953 and 1954.  His employment was as a foreman at Harrisburg Steel and Penn Lyon Homes.  His passion was farming his orchards where he grew every kind of berry.

Bob was a faithful member of Arbogast Lutheran Church where he enjoyed attending coffee and conversation.  He was also a member of the Richfield Fire and Ambulance League and the Reliance Hose Company.

Bob and Sarah enjoyed many miles travelling and creating special memories with his sister and brother-in-law, Leona and Marlin.  They enjoyed all types of trips, big and small, including their trips to Alaska and Ireland.  Bob and Sarah always enjoyed helping to make Easter eggs for Arbogast Lutheran Church.  The Easter egg production began in their home years ago, and eventually grew too large and they had to move the operation to the church.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sarah; children, Steve Troup (Nancy), Kathy Ebright (Doug), Dan Troup (Karen), and James Troup (Stacy); 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren with a third one coming in April; and sister, Leona Heintzelman (Marlin).

He is preceded in passing by his parents, Frank Troup and Leona Miller, and two brothers, Norman (Duke) Troup and his wife Dory and William (Bill) Troup.

The family kindly requests no flowers.  Memorial contributions in loving memory of Bob may be made to Arbogast Lutheran Church Helping Hand Fund, c/o William Smith, 8 South Red Maple Street, Selinsgrove, PA 17870.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Arbogast Lutheran Church, 456 Arbogast Church Road, Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA 17853, with Rev. Hugo Schroeder, III officiating.

Interment will immediately follow in Arbogast Church Cemetery.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at the nursing home, and especially to the aides that brought him ice cream.  Also, special thanks to Margaret and great-grandson, Holden, for helping to take care of pap.
