Stephen C. “Steve” Winey, 74, of Mifflintown, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Brookline Cottages.

Steve was born on April 19, 1949, in Lewistown, a son of the late Wade L. and Helen (Grabbe) Winey.  On June 21, 1975, Steve married Susan E. “Sue” Winey, who preceded him in passing on March 16, 2012.

Steve was a 1967 graduate of Juniata High School.  He was also a graduate of Penn State University where he earned an associate degree in agriculture.

He was a founding member of Thompsontown Baptist Church, and he was very active in his service there.

Steve was proud to be active in attending regular meals with his 1967 classmates.  His hobbies included playing cards, hunting, playing softball in his earlier years, eating out, visiting current and old acquaintances, and delivering Daily Breads.  He especially enjoyed spending precious time with his family.

Steve is survived by his son, Jason Winey and his wife Beth; daughter, Lea Ann Cleck and her husband Daniel; grandchildren, Lillian, Owen, Clara, William, and Meredith Winey and Nixon and Reagan Cleck; brothers, Wade “Larry” Winey, Howard “Howdy” Winey and Janet, and James “Jim” Winey and his wife Sherry; sister-in-law, Christine Robinson and her husband Michael; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He is preceded in passing by his loving wife, Susan E.; his parents, Wade and Helen; and

sisters-in-law Ruth Winey and Karen Winey.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Thompsontown Baptist Church with Pastor Don Henrickson officiating.

Inurnment will be at the discretion of the family in Richfield Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions in loving memory of Steve be forwarded to Thompsontown Baptist Church, 269 Birch Drive, Thompsontown, PA 17094, to be designated for their children and youth ministries.
