Susan J. “Sue” Russell, 74, of Richfield, entered eternal rest on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Evangelical Community Hospital.

Sue was born on October 24, 1949, in Mahoning Township, Montour County, a daughter of Naomi E. (Garman) Lenker and the late John W. Lenker.  On April 6, 1973, she married Joseph P. Russell, who preceded her in passing on May 7, 2008.  They shared over 35 years of marriage.

Sue was a graduate of Elizabethtown College where she earned her teaching degree.  After graduation, she was employed and retired from the Midd-West School District where she passionately taught many students over the years.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Richfield.  Sue enjoyed reading books and watching tv.  Her greatest enjoyment was spending time and creating precious memories with her daughter Jordan and her furpuppy Lucy.

Sue is survived by her children Sean J. Russell of Lewistown, Michael Russell and his wife Denise of Wilkes-Barre, Amy Pannebaker of Richfield, Christine Russell of Jersey Shore, and Jordan Russell of Richfield; mother, Naomi Lenker; sister, Ann Gelder of Hershey; aunt, Joann Lenker of Richfield; niece, Elizabeth Sirolly; nephew, Steven Gelder; her precious furpuppy, Lucy; and multiple feline pets.

She is preceded in passing by her husband, Joseph; father, John; brother, John W. Lenker; aunts, Shirley Ferster and Miriam Troutman; and uncle, Marvin Lenker.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
