Thomas E. Shelley

Bloomsburg, PA

After a long hard battle with cancer, Thomas E. “Tom” Shelley, 46, of Bloomsburg entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital, surrounded by his wife, family, and Pastor Wyatt.

Tom was born on May 2, 1977, in Polyclinic Hospital, a son of Jim and Kathy (Prye) Shelley.  On August 20, 2005, Tom married the love of his life, Emily (Higgins) Shelley.

Tom was a 1995 graduate of Greenwood High School.  Early in life, he was employed by Hempt Bros. in Camp Hill. He was currently employed as a diesel mechanic foreman at Met Express, formerly Metropolitan Trucking, in Bloomsburg.  Cancer and his disability never kept him from working full-time up until near the end.  His goal was always to return to work after “kicking cancer’s ass”.

Tom lived a life enjoying many types of activities.  His utmost enjoyment was watching his Pittsburgh Steelers play football.  He was one of their biggest fans!  Tom also enjoyed camping, being outdoors and in the woods, riding 4-wheeler, mowing grass, and owning his 2005 Red Mustang GT which was his baby.  Tom was always positive and a great conversationalist who loved to talk to everyone.  He especially enjoyed spending precious time with his wife, family, friends, and furbabies Cassie, Lexi, and Laney.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Emily; parents, Jim and Kathy Shelley; brother, Scott Shelley; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ron and Ginny Higgins; sister-in-law, Kathy Mokychic and her husband John and their children Madison and Paige and her fiance’ Casey Montaro; brother-in-law, Jason Higgins and his wife Emily and their children Isaiah, Carter, and Avery and

brother-in-law, Nathan Higgins and his wife Alyssa and their children Caleb and Elise; as well as many many friends.

He is preceded in passing by his grandparents Vivian Shelley and Margaretta and Slim Wentzel.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Turkey Valley Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions in loving memory of Tom be made to Aly’s Monkey Movement online at alysmonkeys.org.
